Optimal Mindset
I came across this video the other day and just had to forward it along to a couple my athletes who’ll be hitting IMWI next weekend.
Although jumping your rally car 171 feet is pretty much the polar opposite of racing an Ironman, 70.3, marathon or any other form of endurance event for that matter, there is one very powerful parallel to examine here, and that’s the driver’s state of mind when approaching the performance. Very Zen/Eastern Philosophy-esque if you were to ask me.
It’s amazing what can be accomplished when you don’t dwell on all the things that could go wrong and instead focus your attention on nothing else but the task at hand and its execution.
:25 – :45 of the video sums it all up.
